Aside from acci\u00addents involv\u00ading haz\u00adardous mate\u00adri\u00adals, this \u201cnor\u00admal\u201d con\u00adt\u00ada\u00adm\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion is made up large\u00adly of sub\u00adstances in the form of sus\u00adpend\u00aded sol\u00adid par\u00adti\u00adcles which are the major cause of ongo\u00ading water pollution.<\/p>\n<h3>The Way<\/h3>\n<p>At around 70%, sus\u00adpend\u00aded solids (&lt; 200\u00b5m) make up the largest part of float\u00ading sub\u00adstances. Most sus\u00adpend\u00aded solids respond to set\u00adtle\u00adment. A sim\u00adple sed\u00adi\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion treat\u00adment can con\u00adtribute sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly to an effec\u00adtive reduc\u00adtion or com\u00adplete avoid\u00adance of impu\u00adri\u00adties at the out\u00adflow. Mod\u00adern waste\u00adwater treat\u00adment focuss\u00ades on stormwa\u00adter set\u00adtling tanks as the cen\u00adtral treat\u00adment&nbsp;organ.<\/p>\n<p>The instal\u00adla\u00adtion of tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal com\u00adpo\u00adnents \u2013 lamel\u00adlae \u2013 can improve the set\u00adtle\u00adment per\u00adfor\u00admance of stormwa\u00adter sed\u00adi\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion basins con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adably, reduc\u00ading con\u00adstruc\u00adtion size and also sav\u00ading invest\u00adment&nbsp;costs.<\/p>\n<h3>The Solution<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>HydroM.E.S.I. Par\u00adti\u00adcle Sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtor<\/strong>&nbsp;is spe\u00adcial\u00adly designed to deal with par\u00adti\u00adcle-based water pol\u00adlu\u00adtion. Whilst in oper\u00ada\u00adtion the lamel\u00adlae plates are sub\u00admerged; the pol\u00adlu\u00adtant impu\u00adri\u00adties are bond\u00aded to the fine sus\u00adpend\u00aded solids. These solids are set\u00adtled to the floor of the tank as the untreat\u00aded water flows between diag\u00ado\u00adnal\u00adly-inclined lamel\u00adlae plates. Free-float\u00ading light sub\u00adstances, such as oil or hydro\u00adcar\u00adbon com\u00adpounds, are treat\u00aded by coa\u00adles\u00adcence.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>HydroM.E.S.I. Par\u00adti\u00adcle Sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtor<\/strong> is equipped with a flex\u00adi\u00adble lamel\u00adla struc\u00adture whose angle of incline is adjustable. On fill\u00ading, the ris\u00ading water lev\u00adel moves the lamel\u00adlae from the ver\u00adti\u00adcal posi\u00adtion into the pre-pro\u00adgrammed oper\u00ada\u00adtional angle, float-con\u00adtrolled and with no exter\u00adnal ener\u00adgy source. The dis\u00adtance between the indi\u00advid\u00adual lamel\u00adlae is vari\u00adable and, if required, can be adjust\u00aded to increase puri\u00adfy\u00ading effi\u00adcien\u00adcy after installation.<\/p>\n<p>The water to be treat\u00aded flows through the sand and grit trap into the sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtion cham\u00adber where it ris\u00ades through the diag\u00ado\u00adnal\u00adly-slant\u00adi\u00adng lamel\u00adlae from bot\u00adtom to top, sep\u00ada\u00adrat\u00ading the sus\u00adpend\u00aded par\u00adti\u00adcles. Set\u00adtled sub\u00adstances accu\u00admu\u00adlate in the form of sludge on the tank floor. Float\u00ading and light mate\u00adri\u00adals col\u00adlect on the sur\u00adface and are kept from flow\u00ading out of the sys\u00adtem by a scum board. The treat\u00aded water flows out of the par\u00adti\u00adcle sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtor through an open chan\u00adnel. <em>(Annu\u00adal aver\u00adage reten\u00adtion of fine fil\u00adter\u00adable sub\u00adstances up to approx. 70% and up to 53% of these sub\u00adstances &lt; 63&nbsp;\u00b5)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the <strong>HydroM.E.S.I. Par\u00adti\u00adcle Sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtor<\/strong>&nbsp;is emp\u00adtied, the lamel\u00adlae return auto\u00admat\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly to their ver\u00adti\u00adcal posi\u00adtion. Any par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlates remain\u00ading on the sur\u00adface of the lamel\u00adlae fall down to the basin floor. A flush wave wash\u00ades the set\u00adtled impu\u00adri\u00adties on the basin floor into the sand and grit trap for dis\u00adpos\u00adal (suc\u00adtion device, pumps, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>On request the <strong>HydroM.E.S.I. Par\u00adti\u00adcle Sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtor<\/strong>&nbsp;can be sup\u00adplied with an inte\u00adgrat\u00aded clean\u00ading sys\u00adtem, an auto-mat\u00aded sludge dis\u00adpos\u00adal unit and a fil\u00adtra\u00adtion unit. <em>(Annu\u00adal aver\u00adage reten\u00adtion of fine fil\u00adter\u00adable sub\u00adstances up to approx. 90% and up to approx. 80% of these sub\u00adstances
